XBolt Dome Head Concrete Screw with Torx-style Drive: Tamper Resistant Anchor Loads and Sizes
Hobson's two-page product data sheet for the XBolt dome head screw anchor with a Torx-style drive, a tamper-proof concrete screw in mechanical galvanised carbon steel, part MXDMSGM. It lists the sizes, installation specification, design and working loads in 32MPa non-cracked concrete, and the maximum installation torque.
What this covers
- Sizes and drive
- Installation specification
- Tension loads
- Shear loads
- Installation torque
Key things to remember
The essentials from this document in plain words. Check the full document before you rely on a figure.
- A one-piece screw anchor for solid concrete with a dome head and Torx-style drive, made as a tamper-proof fixing. It taps its own thread as it goes in and can be loaded straight away.
- Sizes, packs of 50: M6 (T30 drive) x 65, 75 and 100; M8 (T40) x 60, 75 and 100; M10 (T50) x 75, 100 and 150.
- Installation: hole diameter equals the anchor size. Minimum embedment M6 25mm, M8 40mm, M10 50mm. Minimum spacing and edge distance 40mm, 40mm and 50mm. Head diameter 16mm, 18mm and 22mm; minimum fixture hole 8mm, 11mm and 13mm.
- Working load in tension in 32MPa non-cracked concrete, with safety factors of 3.0 on concrete and 2.5 on steel already included: from 1.3kN (M6 at 25mm embedment) to 13.6kN (M10 at 90mm). For example M8 at 60mm 6.8kN.
- Working load in shear, same conditions: M10 at 60mm embedment 2.7kN at 50mm from the edge, up to 8.8kN at 120mm.
- Maximum installation torque in 32MPa concrete: M6 15Nm, M8 45Nm, M10 55Nm.
- Listed uses: anti-tamper fixing in prisons, street furniture such as park benches and play equipment, hand rails, and temporary or permanent formwork.
Who it helps: Installers fixing street furniture, hand rails and secure fittings to concrete who need a tamper-proof fixing.
