XBolt Concrete Screw Anchor EXH6, EXD6, EXK6 (Sizes 8 to 12, Option 1): European Technical Assessment ETA 19/0754
Hobson's cover and the European Technical Assessment ETA 19/0754 (9 March 2020) for the XBolt concrete screw anchor family (EXH6, EXD6, EXK6). This ETA covers sizes 8, 10 and 12 in zinc plated 10B21 steel and A4 stainless, with hex washer, countersunk, pan and hanger bolt heads, for use in cracked and non-cracked concrete.
What this covers
- Cover and approvals
- Materials and head types

Key things to remember
The essentials from this document in plain words. Check the full document before you rely on a figure.
- For static and quasi-static loads in cracked or non-cracked concrete, strength classes C20/25 to C50/60, reinforced or unreinforced. No seismic performance was assessed.
- Head types: hex washer head in sizes 8, 10 and 12; countersunk and pan heads in sizes 8 and 10; a size 10 A4 hanger bolt head with M12 internal thread.
- Zinc plated steel is for dry internal conditions only. A4 stainless (1.4401 or 1.4404) can also go outdoors, including industrial and marine environments, and in permanently damp internal areas, unless conditions are particularly aggressive (for example seawater splash zones or indoor pools).
- Nominal embedment: zinc plated 65mm (size 8), 75mm (size 10) and 95mm (size 12); A4 stainless 85mm, 100mm and 120mm. Drill bit diameter matches the size: 8, 10 or 12mm.
- Minimum concrete member from 110mm (size 8, zinc plated) to 170mm (size 12, A4), with minimum edge distance and spacing of 50mm (size 8), 60mm (size 10) and 70mm (size 12).
- Hammer drilling only. Countersunk and pan heads, and all A4 stainless anchors, are set with an impact driver. Once set, the head must sit fully on the fixture, undamaged, and not turn further.
- Reaction to fire class A1, with fire resistance values for 30 to 120 minutes (R30 to R120). Design is by an engineer to EN 1992-4:2018 and TR 055; the resistances are characteristic values for engineers, not working loads.
Who it helps: Engineers and builders who need the certified basis for 8 to 12 size screw anchors in cracked concrete or fire-exposed fixings.
