XBolt PRO 316 Bi-Metal Dome Head Screw Anchor EXD6XP37M: European Technical Assessment ETA 19/0755
Hobson's cover and the European Technical Assessment ETA 19/0755 (9 March 2020) for the XBolt PRO 316 bi-metal dome head screw anchor, part EXD6XP37M. The ETA covers the size 6 XBolt concrete screw anchor (EXH6, EXD6, EXK6) in zinc plated steel and A4 stainless, for redundant non-structural fixings in concrete, with installation data and fire resistance values.

Key things to remember
The essentials from this document in plain words. Check the full document before you rely on a figure.
- For non-structural fixings only, where several anchors share the load (multiple use), under static or quasi-static loads. Cracked or non-cracked concrete, strength classes C20/25 to C50/60.
- The 316 version is A4 stainless steel (1.4401 or 1.4404) with an alloy tip. A4 can be used outdoors, including industrial and marine environments, and in permanently damp internal areas, but not in particularly aggressive conditions such as seawater splash zones, indoor pool atmospheres or road tunnels. Zinc plated steel is for dry internal conditions only.
- Size 6 A4 stainless: 6mm drill bit, 70mm nominal embedment, hole at least 80mm deep, 9mm clearance hole in the fixture. The ETA lists this head as the pan head: Torx 40 bit, fixtures 5mm to 70mm thick, set with an impact driver only, at no more than 80Nm machine output.
- Minimum concrete member 110mm thick, with at least 40mm edge distance and 40mm spacing for the size 6 A4 stainless anchor.
- Hammer drilling only. Clean the hole, then check the head sits in full contact with the fixture, shows no damage and cannot be turned further.
- Reaction to fire class A1, with fire resistance values for 30 to 120 minutes (R30 to R120). Under fire from more than one side, the edge distance must be at least 300mm.
- Anchorages must be designed by an engineer experienced in anchors and concrete, to EN 1992-4:2018 design method A and TR 055. The tension, shear and fire figures are characteristic values for engineers, not working loads.
Who it helps: Engineers and builders specifying a stainless screw anchor for non-structural fixings in concrete where fire resistance matters.
