XBolt Countersunk Head Concrete Screw, Zinc Yellow Passivate: Sizes, Loads and Installation
Hobson's two-page product data sheet for the XBolt countersunk head screw anchor in zinc yellow passivated carbon steel, part MXKMSYM. It lists the sizes and pack quantities, the installation specification, design and working loads in 32MPa non-cracked concrete, and the maximum installation torque.
What this covers
- Sizes and part numbers
- Installation specification
- Tension loads
- Shear loads
- Installation torque
Key things to remember
The essentials from this document in plain words. Check the full document before you rely on a figure.
- A one-piece screw anchor for solid concrete. It taps its own thread as it is screwed into a drilled hole, can be loaded straight away and is fully removable. The countersunk head sits flush.
- Sizes M6 to M12, 50mm to 150mm long: M6 x 50 and 75, M8 x 50 to 100, M10 x 60 to 100, M12 x 75 to 150. Internal hex drive of 5mm (M6), 6mm (M8), 8mm (M10) and 10mm (M12). Packs of 50, or 100 for M6 x 50.
- Hole diameter equals the anchor size (6mm to 12mm). Minimum embedment: M6 25mm, M8 40mm, M10 50mm, M12 55mm. Minimum spacing and edge distance: 40mm for M6 and M8, 50mm for M10, 60mm for M12.
- Working load in tension in 32MPa non-cracked concrete, with safety factors of 3.0 on concrete and 2.5 on steel already included: from 1.3kN (M6 at 25mm embedment) to 19.0kN (M12 at 110mm). For example M10 at 75mm embedment 10.1kN.
- Working load in shear, same conditions, rises with edge distance. M10 at 60mm embedment: 2.7kN at 50mm from the edge, 8.8kN at 120mm. M12 at 70mm embedment: 3.6kN at 60mm, 12.6kN at 150mm.
- Maximum installation torque in 32MPa concrete: M6 15Nm, M8 45Nm, M10 55Nm, M12 80Nm.
- Listed uses: hand rails, formwork support, mechanical, electrical and pipe brackets, and general flooring.
Who it helps: Builders and installers fixing hand rails, brackets or flooring flush to concrete, and engineers checking design resistances.
