TX-CON Hex Slot Masonry Screw Anchor M6.5: Performance Data
A two-page Conxtruct data sheet for the TX-CON hex slot screw anchor, a light to medium duty masonry screw that needs no plug. It lists the sizes, base materials and uses, then drill hole, embedment, spacing, edge distance and working loads in 32MPa concrete.
What this covers
- Applications and base materials
- Sizes
- Embedment, spacing and edge distance
- Working loads
- Installation
Key things to remember
The essentials from this document in plain words. Check the full document before you rely on a figure.
- Light to medium duty, no plug needed. For concrete, aerated concrete, brick, hollow concrete block and timber (self drilling).
- Listed uses: electrical conduit and pipe saddles, lighting, signage, downpipes and guttering, brackets and handrails.
- Sizes: M6.5 x 32, 45, 58, 70, 83 and 100 (MTXTRHL65032 to MTXTRHL65100), hex slot head, 5/16 inch drive, packs of 100. HEC carbon steel, silver grey R1000 hours protective coat, minimum 15 microns.
- Drill a 5mm hole. Example: M6.5 x 70 at 45mm embedment, minimum spacing 135mm and edge distance 68mm: working load 4.2kN in tension and 2.8kN in shear. Working loads are for concrete with f'c = 32MPa and include factors of safety of 2.5 for steel and 3.0 for concrete.
- The shortest, M6.5 x 32 at 25mm embedment, has a working load of 1.2kN in tension and 2.3kN in shear under the same conditions.
- There are no torque values: drive the anchor until the head is in firm, snug contact with the fixture and the fixture is firm against the base material. Over-tightening can damage the fixture.
Who it helps: Electricians, plumbers and builders fixing light to medium loads into concrete and masonry.
